Microplastics, Macroproblems: The science behind it and what you can do
Hosted by Plan A
From Climate Action Berlin
There are about 15 – 51 trillion individual pieces of microplastic in the ocean. That is about 200 times as many as there are stars in the Milky Way. To solve a problem, we need first to understand it. This is why we want to invite you to a much-needed moment of clarity on the topic. Come rain or come shine, we will be zooming in on the not-so-tiny issue of microplastics and its ramifications for our health, our environment, and our planet.
The Ecologic Institute, A Tip:Tap and Ocean. Now! will be sharing the stage to first explain, and then offer solutions to the rampant growth of microplastics.
Bring a strange friend and help support the fight for clean, plastic-free, tasty water! There is no plan B for our water! Pirates, sailors, squids, scuba-divers, lake-goers, water drinkers of Berlin, see you at betahaus Kreuzberg for a purifying event!
This event will be raising funds for Ocean. Now!, our partner organisation advocating for a general ban on micro-plastics in Germany.
“The concentration of microplastics in the ocean and waterways is rising constantly due to the global plastic problem. Meanwhile, microplastics are also intentionally added to cosmetics and cleaning products for a number of purposes, worsening the problem even further. In many international studies, it has been scientifically proven that microplastics are harmful for living organisms.”
We are looking forward to seeing you for an evening of learning and acting! There is no plan B for our planet!
About Plan A
Plan A is the first data- and community-driven action platform in the fight against climate change. We use data to predict where and how climate change will hit the hardest. Having identified climate issues on a local basis, we connect a community of environmental innovators to provide them with a channel to gather funding from individuals and businesses and implement their solutions in the best conditions.
We have created a space for climate action to thrive. Whether you are a supporter, a project leader, part of a company or a person with an interest in creating change, join us online to interact with a community of like-minded actors of climate action at:
